Music and Movement

Movement is one of the most important vehicles through which young children learn - about themselves and about the world around them. Research shows us that the more senses that are involved in the learning process, the greater the amount of information retained. Dr. Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences validates learning with the body and its parts as bodily/kinesthetic intelligence. With Moving and Learning Across the Curriculum, children are given the opportunity to physically experience concepts and themes common to the six major content areas of art, language, mathematics, music, science, and social studies. They can, thus, process the concepts using a multimodal approach that ensures greater comprehension and retention.
