Nicola Davies is an author and zoologist. She says the Arctic is the most extraordinary place she has ever been. Nicola wanted to capture its magic by writing about the two ultimate Arctic survivors, polar bears and the Inuit people. Nicola is also the author of Big Blue Whale, Surprising Sharks and Poo. Gary Blythe is an award-winning illustrator. His first children's picture book, The Whales' Song, written by Dyan Sheldon, won the Kate Greenaway Medal in 1990. With enormous scope, emotion and detail, Gary has captured the icy grandeur of the Arctic in the picture book Ice Bear (by Nicola Davies), and sent many shivers down spines with his terrifying illustrations for Bram Stoker's Dracula (retold by Jan Needle), as well as illustrating numerous other childrenis picture books. Gary lives in the Wirral, near Liverpool.
