Description

The remarkable story of the beginnings and first twenty years of The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust was told by Margaret Walters Auchmuty in two early books. The first publication, Churchill Fellows of Australia 1966-1977, collates, classifies and analyses the overseas study projects of Churchill Fellows in the first twelve years of the Trust's existence. The author relates the projects to the whole spectrum of the life and work of the Australian community at the time. Auchmuty's second volume, A Perpetual Trust (1985), spans the formation and the first two decades of the Trust. In commemoration of the Trust's 50th Anniversary year, these books are reproduced in their entirety in this new edition. The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust was established in 1965 to honour and commemorate the memory of Sir Winston Churchill through the award of Churchill Fellowships to benefit the Australian community. The aim of the Trust is to provide an opportunity for Australians to travel overseas in search of excellence, new ideas and innovation.
