DescriptionThis book demonstrates the power of emotional experience in relationships and how this power can be used to reconstruct intimate bonds. In emotionally focused couples therapy, intrapsychic and interpersonal perspectives are combined: interactional positions are assumed to be maintained by strong, primary, emotional responses and by the way interactions are structured and organized. Hence, the goal of emotionally focused therapy is to enable a couple to change the habitual positions they assume in relation to each other and to change the way each partner experiences the relationship.
